Nook Mini is my version of that idea, with an extra layer: a companion augmented-reality experience that lets you look through your phone and see a little more happening inside.Nook Mini is the name of the collection and brand. Wandolane is this particular Nook Mini design — the first of several worlds planned for the shelf.

In short: No. It arrives built, wired and inspected.There are lovely kits out there — this isn't one. Your nook arrives finished: unbox it, slide it between two books, power it by USB or AA batteries, and enjoy it. The only assembly is deciding which shelf it deserves.

A long USB cable is included, so it can be used from mains power straight out of the box.AA batteries are not included because of international freight restrictions. The lighting controls include On / Off / Auto; Auto uses the built-in light sensor, and brightness can be adjusted.

In short: It's a display piece with delicate details — treat it like a small artwork, not a toy. The structure is solid; the miniature details inside are fine work. Once it's on your shelf it needs nothing but the occasional dusting. Just don't hand it to a toddler or a cat with ambitions.
