Shipping and Returns
Last updated: August 2026 · Ships from New Zealand · info@nookmini.com
Everything about how a nook travels from my workshop to your shelf — and what happens in the rare case it needs to come back. Every chapter starts with an "In short." The full legal version of all of this lives in the [Terms & Conditions]; this page is the human one.
1. When your nook leaves
In short: Handmade in small batches. Your dispatch window is on the product page.
Every Nook Mini is built, tested, and packed by hand in my New Zealand workshop, which means dispatch depends on where your order sits in the batch: In stock: ships within 2–3 business days. Pre-order: the product page shows the estimated dispatch window for that batch. It's an honest estimate, not a marketing one — and if it moves by more than a week, you'll get a personal email rather than silence. You'll receive a shipping confirmation with tracking the moment your nook is on its way.
2. How it travels
In short: Tracked international shipping is included for the destinations currently served.
Shipping is included in the Nook Mini product price for the destinations currently served, so there is no separate freight charge added at checkout for the standard shipping method. Shipping included does not necessarily mean import charges included. In DAP destinations, local import VAT, applicable customs duty and customs/carrier clearance charges remain payable by the recipient. Section 4 explains this clearly. Every nook travels with end-to-end tracking and appropriate loss/damage cover for the service used. Signature is requested where available or appropriate for the destination/service. The packaging is custom-built around the fragile miniature parts and designed specifically for international transport.
3. How long it takes
In short: Usually 1–2 weeks after dispatch. Customs can add a few days.
Typical delivery to the main destinations after dispatch. United States: [5–10 business days] Europe: [6–12 business days] Australia: [3–7 business days] New Zealand: [1–3 business days] These are typical delivery estimates after dispatch, not guaranteed delivery dates. Customs processing, peak periods, local-carrier delays and events outside my control can add time. The tracking link supplied at dispatch is the best source once the parcel is moving.
4. Customs & import charges (the honest chapter)
In short: Some destinations are all-in/DDP; others are DAP. The product page tells you which applies before you buy.
United States — DDP US orders are sent Delivered Duty Paid. Applicable import duties, taxes and normal customs-clearance charges are paid by Nook Mini through the shipping provider and are included in the applicable US purchase price. You should not normally receive a customs bill on delivery. If a carrier unexpectedly asks you to pay import duty or tax on a US DDP order, please contact info@nookmini.com before paying so I can investigate. European Union and United Kingdom — DAP Shipping is included, but import VAT, applicable duty and any destination customs/carrier clearance or handling charge are paid locally by the recipient. The exact amount is set by the destination country's rules and is not collected by Nook Mini. New Zealand No international import charges apply. Australia and other enabled destinations The applicable tax/import treatment is displayed with the relevant purchase option before checkout. If a DAP parcel is refused or abandoned because required import charges are not paid or reasonable customs formalities are not completed, return shipping and other charges incurred as a result may be deducted from the refund to the extent permitted by law.
5. Your address
In short: Please check both the street address and the delivery country. The delivery country determines the applicable regional price/import treatment.
The delivery country entered at checkout is used to determine the appropriate purchase/shipping treatment. If the wrong regional option has been selected, I may contact you before dispatch to correct the order or cancel and refund it. Please also double-check the complete delivery address and contact details. If you spot an error after ordering, email me immediately — it is usually easy to fix before dispatch and much harder afterwards.
6. Tracking the journey
In short: You get a tracking link at dispatch. A few quiet days mid-journey are normal.
Your shipping confirmation includes a tracking link that follows the nook door to door. Fair warning: international tracking sometimes goes silent for a few days in transit or during customs processing. That's normal. When to actually worry is the next chapter.
7. If it arrives damaged
In short: If the courier breaks it, that's my problem, not yours. Email me within 7 days, with photos or videos.
Despite packaging built like a tiny bank vault, couriers occasionally treat "FRAGILE" as a personal challenge. If your nook arrives damaged: Email me within 7 days of delivery — info@nookmini.com — with photos of the damage and of the packaging (the box photos matter for the insurance claim). Keep all the packaging until we've sorted it out. I'll make it right: repair, replacement parts, a replacement nook, or a refund, depending on the damage. You will not be out of pocket for transit damage. The insurance claim is my job. You'll never be asked to argue with a courier company on my behalf.
8. If it goes missing
In short: Tracking silent for 10+ days? Tell me. Replacement or refund, your choice.
Genuinely lost parcels are rare with tracked, insured shipping — but if your tracking hasn't moved for more than 10 days, email me. I'll open an investigation with the courier. If the nook is confirmed lost, you choose: a replacement from the next available batch, or a full refund. Either way, the courier conversation is mine.
9. Returns — if you change your mind
In short: 14 days from delivery. Email first, return it complete in its protective packaging, and use tracked/insured return shipping.
If you change your mind, email info@nookmini.com within 14 days of delivery. I will confirm the return instructions and return address. Please do not send the parcel before receiving those instructions, especially for an international return. Unless greater statutory rights apply, change-of-mind return shipping is paid by the customer and the nook remains the customer's responsibility until it reaches me. Please use a tracked service with suitable loss/damage cover and reuse the original protective packaging. Once received, I will inspect the return. Refunds are issued to the original payment method/payment provider in accordance with the applicable return policy and any mandatory local consumer law. EU and UK customers also have statutory distance-selling cancellation rights; those rights take priority wherever they provide greater protection. Faulty, non-conforming or transit-damaged products are not treated as change-of-mind returns.
10. Warranty — if something stops working
In short: 12 months on lighting, electronics and workmanship, in addition to any statutory consumer rights.
Every Nook Mini carries a voluntary 12-month warranty from delivery covering lighting, electronics and structural workmanship. The voluntary warranty is additional to any mandatory consumer rights that apply to your purchase and does not limit those rights. If something goes wrong, email me first with photos or a short video. Many issues can be solved with a spare part or guided fix. If a genuine warranty fault requires the nook to return to New Zealand, I cover reasonable shipping both ways. The voluntary warranty does not cover accidental damage, misuse, liquids, normal wear, unauthorised modifications or repairs, or damage caused by opening or altering the product. Opening the product does not remove statutory consumer rights; however, damage caused by unauthorised opening, modification or repair is not covered by the voluntary warranty.
11. Pre-order cancellations
In short: Cancel anytime before it ships, for any reason, full refund.
If you've pre-ordered and change your mind before dispatch, just email me. Full refund, no forms, no guilt, no explanation required.
12. Delays, honestly
In short: Handmade batches and international borders both occasionally run late. You'll hear it from me first.
Two things can slow a nook down: the making (handcraft doesn't always cooperate with calendars) and the border (customs queues answer to no one). What I promise is communication — if your order is affected by either, you'll get an email from me before you need to ask. No tracking-page archaeology required.
13. If something's not right
In short: Email me first. It reaches the person who built your nook.
Whatever's gone wrong — a fault, a delay, a disappointment, or something I haven't thought of — info@nookmini.com comes straight to me. No queue, no bots, no script. I take real pride in making things right, quickly and like a human.
14. Estimated import charges
Wand'O'lane is NZ$399 for DAP destinations, with shipping included. Local import tax and any customs/carrier handling charges are paid by the recipient on arrival. The estimates below are provided as a guide only — your local customs authority determines the final amount.
